A Little Christmas Creativity
Share
Christmas gives us the creative freedom to legitimately go over the top!
Don't hold back, because at this time of year no one is going to think you're over doing it. Bows, garlands, baubles, wreaths, robins, snowmen, elves, fairies and Father Christmas figures abound!
In honour of the season of red and white decorating, here's my selection of Christmas decorating fabrics and trimmings 🎀🎄🎅🏼
🎄
Fabric Gift Bags
For extra special present giving, a personalised gift bag made from fabric is a bonus present that the owner can keep and use again.

For children there are seasonal fabrics with Snowmen, Reindeer & Angels
Available at many craft fabric stockists

There are even cars with christmas trees tied to the roof!

🎄
For adult gift bags, you could go for red satin stripes for a luxury look, red & navy gingham for a country style look

All available on this website

or something Scandi like this Filix fabric from Harlequin.
🎄
Gift bags are really simple to make. If you don't have the skill to make a drawer- string bag, just make an oblong / tube shape bag big enough to accommodate the present, and tie around the neck with ribbon or trimming!
I did intend to make one to show you, but I ran out of time - I promise to show you the ones I make for Christmas gifts soon!
🎄
Trimmings
As I said earlier, Christmas is a time of year when More is More!
Dig around in your sewing basket and see what you can find to decorate with.
If you've got some left over trimming from a sewing project, how about giving your Christmas Fairy a makeover!

Take one tired Christmas Fairy
and...
give her a new look 🧚🏼

Ribbons & Bows
From the wreath on your door to the presents under the tree, bows are everywhere at Christmas.
Add them to garlands, tie them onto your staircase, the backs of your dining chairs and around your napkins.

15"/38 cm length of soft furnishing trim tied twice around the middle with artificial berries slipped in between.
This trim is currently out of stock

Ribbons and Bows add the finishing touch to Christmas.
They add that extra sparkle and transform the ordinary into the extraordinary!

Christmas ribbon is widely available and there is lots of choice if you know the best places to look. Amazon and Ebay have a huge choice, you can also find it in large garden centres, florists and specialist craft shops. Places like Hobbycraft also stock it but personally I find their range limited.
Wired ribbon is by far the easiest to work with, especially if you want to make bows. I used wired ribbon for the bows on the wreath and table decoration in the above photos.

This is an unwired, Jute ribbon. It's quite stiff, but also has a fluid quality which makes it good for garlands and wreaths.

I know you don't all have the time to run up a few cushions and a bed throw between now and Christmas, but ....

Wouldn't this be fabulous in your guest bedroom if you had the time?
One I made earlier! 😂
